New Store in East York
Last December, my local residents' association in East York partook in an initiative to fill empty storefronts with holiday pop-up shops. The end result being that there has been some rejuvenation in the area, including a new store and arts centre called Artisans at Work. It will be a place for artisans to create, market and sell their works, and also a place for classes, workshops and shows. My Zippster items are available at the store, which will be having a grand opening event soon. Stay tuned for pics and more info!

New writings by me
Previously, I had mentioned that I was expanding the scope of this blog as a way to share my other interests and activities. One of these is to improve my writing skills while also finding an outlet to express my thoughts on feminism and gender equality. In particular, I am interested in the way women are portrayed in the media.
I submitted a pitch for a blog post to the editor at Gender Focus, which eventually resulted in a commentary on Beyonce's Run The World (Girls) video and song. More recently I wrote a critique on the portrayal of women in TV commercials, specifically household cleaning products. This was a big step for me, and I'm hoping to do more writing soon.

Branching Out
I've decided to expand the focus of this blog; originally it had meant to serve as a way to promote and share my sewing. Recently I've become more interested in improving my writing skills as a way to express my opinions on feminism and gender equality, specifically the representation of gender stereotypes in the media. This is something I've been interested in for a while but didn't have the confidence or means to do so.
As a way to get my feet wet and for feedback on my writing, I submitted a post to Gender Focus. This is just a start, I'm hoping to do more writing in the future but I also realize I need to work on my writing skills, which will hopefully improve the more I do.

New features for Etsy sellers
Etsy has recently announced some exciting new features for sellers: Etsy gift cards and Listing Variations, which will allow customers to pick customization options on an item if available, such as colour or size.
Too bad neither feature is available to sellers outside the U.S. Considering 95% of my customers are Americans, I'm eagerly awaiting for these features to be rolled out to international sellers.
